What If Everything You Knew About Greatness Was Wrong?

We all, consciously or unconsciously, have that question lurking in the crevices of our hearts. Some of us have actively searched for answers—flipping through the pages of good books, taking cues from the lives of great men and women. Perhaps we can draw valid conclusions by observing those who have lived, or still live, admirable lives. In this relentless search, some have found the answer, while others remain uncertain.
Even those who believe they have found the answer are often plagued by doubt: “Is this truly the right answer?” And those who think they have the right answer wonder if they can ever live up to it.
The Question of Greatness
  • Can we all be great in life?
  • Am I destined for greatness?
  • What can I do to be great?
  • Has God written great lines within the pages of my life?
These questions echo in our minds, over and over.
Many have received cloudy answers, their clarity drowned out by the noise—the noise of a world obsessed with the spotlight. Society has painted a picture of greatness for us to see.
Greatness, they say, is:
  • A massive following on social media.
  • Your face on billboards.
  • Multiple citizenships in powerful nations.

But…
What if greatness is not an appearance on a TV show? What if it’s not being listed among the world’s richest by Forbes? What if it’s not measured by the quantity of achievements? What if it has nothing to do with being known by the entire world?

As people governed by the kingdom of God, our definition of greatness differs from that of the world.
What is Greatness?
What if it’s simpler than we ever thought? What if greatness is as simple as being who you were created to be? What if we are all uniquely structured for greatness? What if nobody can be as great as you, and you can never be as great as another?
What if greatness is simply in the fulfillment of one two-lettered word—'ME'?
Being all that God has called 'ME' to be. Occupying my 'ME' space, completely.
Ever wonder why we aren’t all packed together in one place? While some are in Canada, others are in the USA, and some in Nigeria etc. God, though not limited by space, recognizes its significance in the lives of men.

For some, occupying their space may lead to appearing on TV, being listed among the world’s wealthiest, or becoming globally known. For others, it means being recognized and valued within their own world—because they filled their space.
Remember,
Mark 12:41-44 (KJV):
"And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

These questions are for you;
Are you casting all your living into the treasury of life?
Can life say you gave your last penny or are you merely giving out of your abundance while holding back the rest?

A man of God once said, 'We will all be great, and the good part is that we will know each other.' — Apostle Joshua Selman

Dare to be great! Dare to be all you were made and called to be! Dare to live fully and die empty!
Don’t fight for another’s space. Don’t kill for another’s space. Don’t hate for another’s space.
The goal is not to go viral or appear on a billboard. The goal is to totally obey God—which may lead to fame or may not.
Greatness is doing what the Lord asks you to do, in the best way you can do it.
Are you great?
